Our mission statement:

To treat every and any patient equally, no matter their race, color, religion or sexual inclination. Each treatment is individually tailored to the unique needs of the patient.

At SHAIOM our treatment approach is rooted in Daoist philosphy and in particular chapter 42  of the Tao Te Ching:

"The Tao begot one.
One begot two.
Two begot three.
And three begot the ten thousand things.

The ten thousand things carry yin and embrace yang.
They achieve harmony by combining these forces."

Consequently, this means that everything originated from the same source, that there is not good nor evil. There is only Qi (the One),  Ying and Yang (the Two). Every being, any entity, any person is a combination of these three forces. Therefore, when treating a patient, no matter his/her condition, we will thrive to reinstore harmony instead of fighting the disease, or killing the pathogen. By re-instoring balance and homeostasis we help the patient to regain inner peace and well being; in other words: Health

From Specialist to Generalist

In Classical Chinese Medicine the practitioner begins his career with one specialty, then adds another, and another, and yet another, until he or she becomes, towards the end of his/her career, a Generalist.

At SHAIOM, Gilles Obermayer started his career as martial artist and Die Da (Hit & Fall medicine) apprentice with Tom Bisio. He went on to add other specialties such as Shiatsu (with Ohashi Sensei), medical aromatherapy, fertility, pediatrics, stone medicine (with Dr. Jeffrey Yuen), geriatric, Gu syndromes  with Heiner Fruehauf (Lyme disease and other chronic debilitating parasitc infestations) and more. Although an accomplished practitioner, there is always more to learn and Gilles will never stop studying and researching in particular with Dr. Yuen.
